Canadian Survey on Business Conditions; a Deep Dive by the Canadian Chamber

There has been a lot of talk about how COVID-19 has been affecting Canadian business – but what’s the real story? In partnership with Deloitte Canada, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce has released a deep dive into the most recent numbers from Statistics Canada’s Canadian Survey on Business Conditions.

Simple Changes in Tax Policy to Help through COVID-19

Last week, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce released a list of 30 things the government could do regarding tax changes that could help businesses struggling through the pandemic. 
´╗┐These recommendations come from consultations earlier this year as part of their Think Growth campaign. A comprehensive report will be published early next year that sets out ideas for long-term structural reform.

Provincial Government Announces Support for Tourism Sector Recovery

On December 8, the provincial government announced further details on how $53 million in supports, outlined in StrongerBC: B.C.’s Economic Recovery Plan, will create jobs and spur economic development for tourism businesses.
In addition, as part of StrongerBC, government created a tourism task force to seek ideas on how to best position the industry for the 2021 season. Its final report is scheduled to be delivered to government before the end of 2020.
